Inner Balance is a community based mental health practice. We offer a safe place for you to understand your feelings and emotionally heal. In Japanese pottery, there is a concept called kintsukuri: the art of repairing broken things with precious metals. A beautiful framework for therapy: mending and becoming stronger. Together we will embark on a journey to regain your inner balance.

Inner Balance was founded with the mission to help others heal through authentic empathy and compassion.  With over 10 years of working with kids, teens, young adults and adults our scope of practice covers the lifespan. Recognizing you are not alone in your journey; we value working with medical doctors, schools, and other providers to provide you comprehensive care.

We apply a variety of evidence-based practices tailored to meet your current needs including: CBT, DBT, Solution Focused Therapy, Mindfulness and Psychodynamic interventions.

Yes!! Psychotherapy services are covered by most insurance policies.  We accept a variety of medical insurance and self-pay. 

Meet Us

Amanda Kapadia

Amanda graduated with honors from Fordham University Gradate School of Social Service in New York City. Following graduation, she completed a post-masters certificate for psychoanalysis at New York University. Her breadth of experience comes from providing therapy in a variety of community settings ranging from schools to inpatient psychiatric care. Areas of special interest are self-injury, suicidal ideations, mood disorders and insomnia.

Amanda proficiently uses a variety of treatment modalities including CBT, CBT-I, Solution Focused Therapy, Mindfulness and DBT to help relieve clients of initial distress and stabilize mood. Then using a psychodynamic approach to help clients understand the root their of feelings and behaviors. Her approach is collaborative, nurturing, non-judgmental with a touch of humor when appropriate.

In her spare time, Amanda can be found chasing her three boys, husband and dog. She likes to climb mountains, cook and drink good coffee.

Maria Chybicki
Maria joins the Inner Balance team after many years of public service providing outpatient mental health therapist with the Addison Health Department. Maria is a native Spanish speaker. She is passionate about using this skill to serve those who may find language a barrier to mental health services. She is especially interested in acculturation and assimilation issues within Hispanic-American cultures.
Maria takes an eclectic approach to her work having been trained in CBT, DBT, and Motivational Interviewing. Using a collaborative approach, she tailors her interventions to the individual needs of each client. Maria is warm, attentive and nurturing. These traits help you feel at ease quickly and help build a trusting working relationship. Maria will teach you how to set boundaries, teach self care and cope with many of life stressors.
While not at the office, Maria enjoys spending time with loved ones, dancing and outdoor adventures.

Megan Anderson
Megan joins the Inner Balance team having experience working with a variety of different settings and age groups. She truly enjoys working with all age ranges. Her particular interest is working children, adolescents and emerging adults.  Megan is also recognizes the challenges of parenting and will incorporate parents into sessions.
Megan works mostly from a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Mindful Based Stress Reduction models. She believes in collaboration and a space that offers respect, compassion, and patience. Her goal through the therapeutic process is to provide a feeling of safety, empathy, and trust in order to develop insight into your feelings, behaviors, and thoughts.
Megan is a voracious reader. She also enjoys music, movies and spending time with her family. Although, she’d really rather be reading. 

Kristen Smith

Kristen is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who earned her Master’s in Social Work at Aurora University. Prior to Inner Balance, Kristen gained experience providing therapy in community centers and residential facilities. She combines years of clinical experience to help others improve their well-being. Kristen specializes in working with adolescents and adults who struggle with perfectionism, depression, self-esteem, race/identity, and grief.

Kristen is interactive with clients and uses elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy to help clients develop strategies they can integrate into their daily lives to enhance positive change and growth.

During her free time, Kristen can be found cooking, reading, or playing soccer.

Ashley Kallas

Ashley joins this practice after many years working inpatient psychiatric level of care for the geriatric population, specifically individuals with dementia. She is passionate about helping the families/caregivers as they cope with a multitude of emotions. Ashley has experience working with children, adolescents and older adults in both inpatient and outpatient treatment environments. Ashley has a particular emerging interest in perinatal mood disorders and postpartum support.

Ashley believes in the power of collaboration with the client and building on the skills and strengths already possessed. Her approach is one of empathy and empowerment. Ashley works from a strengths-based perspective with a humanistic approach. She utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy and mindfulness. Ashley will therapeutically meet the client where they are at and utilize the approach most beneficial to the individual at that time. Ashley provides a safe and comforting space for healing, nurturing and growth.

During her free time, ashley can be found spending quality time with her family and hanging out with her pets. Ashley loves listening to podcasts and audio books, drinking strong coffee and
going for relaxing walks.
